How to Make Mac and Cheese in a Slow Cooker

Updated: Mikey taped a Cooking Showfor this dish.

Aunt Lou here.

I don’t know who was more excited about this recipe, me or the kids. They saw me taking photos of it in the crock pot, then plating it up and taking more photos. When I told them that they were going to have it for lunch, Ryder was literally jumping up and down with excitement! Iyla kept saying, “Yummy yummy!” over and over again. And truth be told, mommy couldn’t wait to dig in either!

I changed things up a bit on this recipe because I wanted it super creamy. My wish was fulfilled! And I added in the sprinkling of the Italian bread crumbs to see what it was like. The kids and I alike loved it with the additional flavor. If Italian bread crumbs are not up your alley, then feel free to leave them out.

Excellent! Made this Sunday and it tasted just like my MIL’s recipe. I always hated making it, though, because you had to stand over the stove and stir it non-stop so it didn’t burn. Very yummy, easy and no mess to clean up. Definitely a keeper!

Can this be made using uncooked rotini & increase the cooking time?

      Hi Jennifer!

I haven’t tried it with uncooked rotini. The liquid amounts, as well as the time, would need to be tweaked in order for the pasta to cook. Without testing it, I don’t want to make recommendations as to what those tweaks would be. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes! Enjoy!

      Hi Graeme!

It is half milk half light cream. I’ve also heard it called half cream. If you don’t have it available in Australia, you can google how to make substitutes. I promise you it will be worth the effort with how yummy this dish tastes! Enjoy!
