Homemade white garlic pizza sauce. A flavorful alternative to traditional tomato based pizza sauces.
Why is it that I always manage to run out of things when I absolutely don’t want to leave the house. With windchill it was below zero yesterday. Whipping winds. Seriously cold. But I know we’re not alone with the frigid weather. I’ve been seeing snaps and pictures from around the country where it’s even worse.
Spring can’t get here fast enough.
On that note… while out, begrudgingly doing errands in the cold, I noticed that Target already has Easter stuff out right next to Valentine goodies. What?! Why can’t we just get through one holiday at a time. They’re skipping right over St Patrick’s day by throwing chocolate eggs out already. Another forgotten holiday by retailers… So sad.
Totally random, but who remembers this song? Don’t be mad if it’s stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
What can I say…
I love pizza. And garlic. And definitely cheese. I hope you agree. It would be truly wrong to not love any of those.
This white garlic pizza sauce is absolutely perfect and completely dreamy. And, it’s ridiculously easy to make. Just a few minutes and you have a creamy pizza sauce ready to be used or stored for later!
This is a little sneak peek of Friday’s recipe. Go ahead and whip it up ahead, you’ll definitely want what’s coming! Friday is pizza night after all so it’s bound to be something extra delicious and totally crave worthy.
This easy homemade white garlic pizza sauce is sure to become a new family favorite, for mine and yours!

Have you ever canned this or could you can this recipe?
-
Rachel —
I haven’t. I would caution against it since dairy is involved though.

Could you freeze this? Make it in larger batches and freeze 1 cup portions?
-
Rachel —
Due to the high dairy content, I wouldn’t recommend it, but you’re always welcome to give it a try.

I have made this recipe several times and it is excellent! I have made it, then froze it, and used it as I have made white pizzas. I just thawed out a little bit at a time to use it for white pizza vs the red sauce. I would highly recommend it! GREAT, easy recipe!

I’ve done it. Reheat in double boiler, stirring constantly to keep it smooth. Works great for me!

What the best way to reheat after being in the fridge?
-
Rachel —
You can use the microwave or a double boiler set over simmering water. If using the microwave, heat in small increments… 30 seconds or so and stir in between.

Would almond or coconut flour work with this recipe?
-
Rachel —
I’d recommend 1 1/2 tablespoons of cornstarch if you cannot use flour. It’s a good gluten free option when a thickening agent is needed.

About how much does this make? I am trying to input this recipe intomy fitness pal and it is asking for number of servings. Do you happen to have nutritional info on this?
-
Rachel —
The recipe section states it makes 1 cup. Keep in mind, this is not a serving size, but a total amount. Servings will vary greatly depending on the use (ie pizza, pasta or dipping sauce).

How would you use this to put on a pizza? I’ve never tried this before and was just wondering.
-
Rachel —
Use it as the base of your pizza, in place of other sauces.
-
-
Sophie — Reply
If you use this as the base for the pizza, would you just put regular cheese on top and then bake it?
-
Rachel —
I have a pizza recipe that uses the sauce as a base. You may be interested in checking out that for further info and ideas. :) Recipe: Thin crust three cheese chicken pizza with garlic white sauce

Made this, I really enjoyed it, added a little more garlic, it was delicious just what I was looking for. I added it to a cauliflower crust pizza, will use this for a number of recipes. Recently had surgery and tomato based sauces just don’t agree, even though I still can eat raw tomatoes. Yummy !!!

Hi there. What kind of Parmesan. Fresh or dry?
-
Rachel —
Finely grated Parmesan cheese, freshly grated or pre-purchased will both work.

Due to lactose intolerance, can almond milk/lactaid be used in place of regular milk?
-
Rachel —
Absolutely! You may need to adjust the flour a bit to help it thicken, if substituting. But it still should work well. Good luck! :)

Very good, basic recipe. I subbed a few things based on what was on hand (some cream to supplement being short on milk, jarred garlic instead of fresh) and it turned out very good. I used it on a breakfast pizza with sausage, olives, scrambled eggs, and sundried tomatoes. Yum!

Made this last weekend. Used it on homemade pizza dough that i then put prosciutto, mozzarella, thinly sliced potato, pear and arugula with a balsamic drizzle. It was so good. My kids (grownup) decided the sauce would be great to dip fries in. Guess what’s for dinner tonight? – using up a pork roast with it. Definitely a keeper.

Very simple to throw together and it makes plenty of sauce. Don’t stop whisking since things happen pretty quick. I may try again using an extra clove of garlic.

Can I sub anything for the flour that would be more Lo Carb?
-
Rachel —
King Arthur Flour has a keto wheat flour you may want to look into. Otherwise, you would want to look into alternative flour options and play around with it to see if it works well or not.

If I make it tonight and put it in fridge will it still be good to use on Friday? Do I heat it up before putting it on the pizza dough, or just put it on cold then cook pizza? Never done this before.
-
Rachel —
It can definitely be made ahead and stored in the fridge. No need to heat it up prior to spreading on the pizza. Use it like you would traditional sauces for your pizza.
